Message from Bendigo Bank

It is never too early to begin saving!

Here at the Bendigo Community Bank at Coleraine, we are committed to helping you teach your children the lifetime skill of saving their money.

We all know the benefit getting into the habit of saving has for us all.

By starting at kinder, children get into that habit early and get a real kick out of watching their savings grow.

Some tips for healthy savings:

  • Let your child take control of their savings. Keep their Bendigo Bank Piggy Account Passbook in their room and remind them to organise their book the night before kinder banking.

  • It doesn’t have to be much. As little as 50 cents a week can help your child get into great saving habits.

  • Perhaps they can be encouraged to do a few extra jobs to help their parents or caregivers and earn some money to deposit into their account.

  • Children love seeing something tangible for all their hard saving work. Let them have a saving goal at the end of the year and suggest they may be able to withdraw a portion of their savings for this.

  • When your child opens an account with us, they will also receive a Bendigo Bank Piggy for their coins which is another great saving tool.

Setting your children up with the skills to help them establish their financial security into the future can be one of the best gifts you can give them.

So why not start today by digging out your child’s existing passbook account or pop into your local branch and the friendly staff can open an account for your child in as little as ten minutes.

All you need is their birth certificate and your drivers licence. Easy!

We look forward to seeing you soon and guiding your child on the path to saving.
